You ever get so wrapped up in getting a project done and in the can that you never really stop to question whether or not said project should be undertaken?
Thanks to the webcrazies at Videogum.com for bringing this one up in a blog titled, “Start Believing in God or This Kid Will Shoot.”
It’s a commercial by AnswersinGenesis.org who are “dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively.” Okay, so first watch the commercial and then we’ll digest it together. But be warned…this commercial has been rated PG-92
So, for starters……what the what?!?
Yeah…go back, play it again. We’ll wait.
Unlike the Bike King and the 10 Commandments which got the PG-92 rating for egregious use of After Effects Filters among other things, this one actually has great production value, shallow depth of field. Beautiful.
Right up until the final VO which, in case you missed it, went something like this:
“Nobody cares about non-Christians….KABLOOIE!”
Or, you know, words to that effect. It was posted to YouTube 7 months after the Virginia Tech Massacre. Ouch, guys. Too soon to joke? After almost 60K views it’s gotten 1.5 out of 5 stars.
Epic fail.
It’s what we call a swing and a miss.
