SATURDAY DATA DUMP

Every week we come across a boat load of interesting and/or helpful tidbits on the interwebs.  These things deserve more than a link, but less than than full page fluffery.  The SATURDAY DATA DUMP  is borne in that awkward in-between space.  Wherein you, the reader, places your empty head space beneath the spigot of our ice cream machine of awesome-ness and  we dump out a random assortment of digital profundery.  (pretty sure I just made that word up, and judging by the red underline-y thingy you can’t see but I can in edit mode, I also mispelled the word I just made up.  Just go with it!)

Here are some things that caught our eye last week in no particular order…

WatchtheTitles.com
Forget the Film, Watch the Titles.  Where do you draw your artistic inspiration from? I mean, any graphic designer knows you’re only as good as your reference (be it a photo, a film scene, a painting, etc).  Here’s a site that picks apart all these opening title sequences from a visual effects standpoint.  This particular opening is the Dark Knight Rises.

Mashable’s Data Infographic
It’s pretty insane the amount of information/data that is created on a minute by minute basis. If you really want your head to explode check out this info-graphic detailing which sites contribute what amount of digital hooha to our interwebs.  And unlike the green movement, nobody’s telling anyone to “cut back” and “post responsibly”.  Yet. Perhaps the interwebs won’t always be a limitless vast expanse.

Facebook v GooglePlus Infographic
Okay, we got on a bit of an infographic kick.   It’s like being back in school…only FUN.  This one is a really solid attempt, though, at breaking down differences between user life on Facebook versus GooglePlus.  I know I know what you’re thinking…”People are using GooglePlus?”  Apparently they are, and this graphic breaks down who those 5 people are and what they’re doing.

$FB Stocks Rally
It was a stellar week for Facebook which took a lot of heat for a bungled IPO last month/May.  Now that a lot of that has subsided and initial lackluster investor noobs have wandered back to AAPL and SBUX with their tails between their legs, the big boy investors have jumped in to start buying things up for the long run. Shares were up to $33.45 before settling back to $33.05 for the weekend.  Most estimates see it making it at least back to it’s IPO price of $38/share.  Whether that happens in the next week or not…well, that’s where the guessing game gets fun.

Unlike Christ
This is an eye-opening video that is based purely on what people are Googling about Christians.   Spoiler alert: we’re a long way from being the salt and light we need to be.  Apparently we’re more like those salt and vinegar chips which are just…dis-GUSting!  Why are they made?  Who is eating those things?  I mean, Guantanemo Bay has been closed.  What possible further use could we have for these assaults on your tastebuds?!?

It’s Easy To Win an Oscar
Back on the Filmmaking frontier, It’s Easy to Win an Oscar, apparently.  All you have to do is follow 10 easy steps by Rick Schwartz and you’ve got it.

Zombie Apocalypse Car
The brainssessss behind the WALKING DEAD TV show are working on creating an actual vehicle to drive into the Zombie Apocalypse which may or may not be forthcoming.  Too bad the show sponsor is Hyundai instead of Land Rover or Hummer where we could have an actual decent chance of Zombie survival.  Ah well.

Missionary Flying Car
And on that note of vehicular awesome-ness, we discovered two big things recently.  1) Steve Saint – whose father was the slain missionary from End of the Spear – is working on a flying car for missionaries.  Yeah.  You read that right.  Only we also learned that 2) he was critically injured during the testing phase and now may be paralyzed from the neck down.

Tony Curtis’ Amazing Cary Grant Impersonation
This clip is pulled from “Some Like it Hot” and is probably the best Cary Grant impersonation I’ve ever seen.  The entire film is worth a watch, but this scene is perfection.

And all I have to say about this last one is…Dogs. Barking. Imperial. March. Amazing.

That was from HERE.  You’re welcome!

And by the by, just so there are no loose ends, I did find this…

pro·fun·di·ty/prəˈfəndətē/

Noun:
  1. Deep insight; great depth of knowledge or thought.
  2. Great depth or intensity of a state, quality, or emotion.

BLAM!
