Starring Kevin Max (dc Talk), Jeff Deyo (formerly of Sonicflood), and Kerry Livgren (Kansas, AD), THE IMPOSTER tells the story of a popular Christian rock band, Grand Design, whose lead singer, Johnny C (Max), is spiraling out of control. After his wife and band mates discover his secret life offstage, Johnny C’s life begins to fall apart. Coached by his mentor Proff (Livgren) and a crazy homeless man Tom Wright (World Trade Center, Barbershop), he begins a journey back home to rebuild what is left of his family and home life.

Written and directed by Daniel Millican, THE IMPOSTER was a story that needed to be told. “This movie was made for the church,” explains Millican. “I find the closer I pull to Jesus, slowly the masks come off and masquerades end. Hopefully this movie will help viewers choose to find their identity in Jesus.”

THE IMPOSTER’s story of redemption has struck a chord already in early reviews.

“The Imposter” CD Soundtrack Released on April 21

(March 24, 2009) FORT WORTH, TX -  The soundtrack for the new faith‐based Kevin Max (dcTalk) movie, The Imposter will be released April 21, 2009 and will showcase the new version of “Carry On Wayward Son”, recorded by the original songwriter, and Kansas band member, Kerry Livgren with vocals by Max.

In addition to the classic, other songs from the movie include never before released songs sung by Max and Christian recording artist Jeff Deyo. The soundtrack also includes music from Max, Livgren, the band Downhere and more. A couple of the tracks will be from the score, written and performed by Josh Goode.

Kerry Livgren was initially reluctant in redoing his classic rock song, “Carry On Wayward Son.”

He says “I thought it was the last song on Earth I’d ever re‐record. But after being asked to do it for the film, I started thinking about what I would do differently.”

Livgren recorded the new version for Max to sing vocals. A music video was produced while shooting the feature film The Imposter.

“Same lyrics,” says Livgren. ”They are eerily appropriate to the movie. It’s almost as if that song, decades ago, was written for this movie.”

Currently, people can pre‐order the soundtrack at the movie’s website, www.theimpostermovie.com. The movie is being made available to churches only until the fall, when the home DVD will be released.

In the film, Max’s character, “Johnny C” is the lead singer of a faith‐based, chart‐topping band, but his personal demons – drug addiction and ego – send him on a downward spiral in which he loses everything that’s meaningful in his life. “It’s basically the ‘prodigal son’ story,” Max explains, “And it is one that every artist, rebel or wayward person can relate to.”

The Imposter, written and directed by veteran filmmaker Dan Millican (check out our W4F interview with him HERE) is being utilized similarly to the recent movie Fireproof. Churches and ministries are purchasing a one year license to show the movie. “In addition to outreach, churches find this a great way to fundraise,” Millican says.

Churches that purchase the film’s rights for one year are then free to keep any revenues generated from tickets sales at their church and can keep a portion of soundtrack CD’s if they choose to sell them on site. A Study Guide, with clips from the movie, is included in the licensing fee.
